Owen loves his bath

Owen loves his bath time. He smiles and talks the entire time he is in the bath. The only bad part is he cries when you take him out...

Lucas is writing his name

He has almost all of it down. He can free hand all but the S. We are so proud of him. (He really loves to practice writing.)

Lucas is also learning the states and their capitols. Next time you talk to him - as him the capitol of California or Colorado and he'll let you know. He is having a bit of a problem with Nevada -- he says "cartoons" instead of Carson City.

Picture below is a sample -- pretty good for a 2.75 year old!

Lucas Loves Books

Lucas loves to read books - which makes his parents very happy - here is a quick pic of Dad reading to Lucas and Lucas reading to Dad.

Quick Zoo Trip with Aunt Katie

On Sunday (football Sunday) I met up with Katie and we took the boys to the zoo. It was a quick trip, as I didn't remember the zoo being so spread out and Lucas' little legs got tired quickly which meant mom's arms got tired soon after. (Yes, I will go get the sit and stand stroller this week.) We spent most of the time with the chimps and orangatans...with a quick pass through Owen's Aviary. After the zoo we headed over to the train (which Lucas just loved) and after mom and Lucas took a spill (Ouch) - we went over to carousel...

Lucas the big brother and much more

Lucas is growing up so fast! He is entering a new level of understanding. Asking the "why" questions and wanting to know more about everything (from firemen, to stitches and details about football and baseball). Lately he will walk up to one of us and say "Mama/Dada can I ask you something?" -- then follows with a random question. Lucas remembers everything from where we sat the last time we were at Sea World to remembering that Charlie stepped on his grapes at the Hullabaloo concert 6 months ago. He is so smart - he remains to be a challenge. I have put him to bed 5 times tonight and he still is not asleep. Oh well - it's worth all the joy he brings.

Lucas is enjoying being a big brother (most of the time) - He even asked me yeterday on our way back from our Lucas and Mom day at Sea World why we didn't bring Owen and that we should next time - adding - I think he would like Shamu.

Owen is 2 months old today!

He had his visit with Dr Neglia. Weighing in 11 pounds 10 ounces (54th percentile) and 24.5 inches (100th percentile). Dr Neglia felt all his developmental skills were in the advanced level and was impressed when he put Owen on his tummy and he held his head up and still for a good 15 seconds. He also put on a cooing show. Owen was having a great time until the nurse returned and gave him 4 shots - the look on his little face and the screams he sent out made me cry - but it was over within a minute and he was back to his happy go lucky self (except for being a little groggy this evening).
Owen is sleeping well - down around 8:30pm and wakes for a quick feeding between 4am and 5am and then sleeps again until around 7am. -- It's amazing to see him responding to things going on around him. He is growing up too fast!

BRO Company Picnic

Saturday was our company picnic. It was something I has started planning before my maternity leave, so it felt a little odd being there. We had low turnout, but realized that the people who did show are some of our favorite people we work with. Here are a couple of pictures.

Owen was kidnapped Maggie - the wife of Rich's boss :)

Lucas had a blast at the park - he was a little shy around
big people but loved playing with the kids on the playground

Sunday Outing

After the day of football - we decided to go to the Oceanside Pier for a family outing. We were going to take the Sprinter - but missed it by 30 seconds (If we had just run the red light that stayed red forever!) - So we drove. First we went to the playground and then walked the Pier (did you know it is the longest wood pier in CA? -- 1942 feet). At first Lucas stepped on each plank making sure he didn't step on a crack - he forgot about it all when he saw all the people fishing. The pier is not made for strollers - so Owen bounced his was back and forth (with a smile). Then we ate at Ruby's at the end of the Pier. A fun outing - except for Rubys. Not sure they have cleaned the place in awhile -- though Lucas kept saying the fries were "delicious". (Didn't get a picture of us on the Pier - but found a nice one.)

Doesn't everyone garden in their underwear?
Couldn't resist. :) Lucas' daily attire would be pajama tops and underwear if he could get away with it and some lazy weekend days he does get away with it.

He's helping his dad mow the lawn and trimming the weeds.

Labor Day Beach Camping with Aunt Pamme and Uncle Mike

Pamme and Mike hosted a family camping weekend at San Elijo in Cardiff. We had a wonderful weekend full of family, bbqing and beach time. Lucas as usual loved it all. Playing at the beach (especially with Cal), surfing with Aunt Pamme and Uncle Mike, sleeping and playing in a tent, hanging out in the bunkbed in the bus (aka the motor home) and believe it or not his two favorite activities were taking a shower in the campground shower and watching the trash truck dump the trash from the very full and stinky dumpsters. :) -- The weekend was fun and exhausting at the same time. We can't wait for next year!
